Diamond Sawing

Diamond Sawing

CODICUTS perform diamond sawing operations using a number of techniques to cut, reshape and modify reinforced concrete, masonry, brick and block work. The location, depth of cut, and verticality dictate the method and equipment selected to perform the operation.
Hand Sawing

Hand sawing covers 3 methods of diamond sawing all of which involve the use of light weight but powerful equipment which our skilled operatives can use to cut and modify.

Disc Cutting

Electric or hydraulic or petrol engine disc cutters equipped with circular blades up to 400mm in diameter and tipped with segments containing industrial diamonds can cut to depths of up to 155mm.

Diamond blades are available to maximise the efficiency in the material being cut.

Wet cutting is preferable where by fresh water lubricates the diamond blade and eliminates dust however dry sawing is possible with saws equipped with attachments for vacuum systems to collect dust.

Ring Sawing

Electric or hydraulic or petrol engine ring saws equipped with circular blades up to 370mm in diameter and tipped with segments containing industrial diamonds can cut to depths of up to 270mm. The cutting depth makes them suitable for cutting small or single openings from one side in structural concrete up to 250mm thick.

Chain Sawing

Specialist chainsaws designed to run chain tipped with diamond segments and to be flushed with water are able to cut to depths of up to 500mm. They are best suited to unreinforced concrete, brick and block work but can cut reinforced concrete, ductile iron and stone.

Plunge cutting allows the cutting of openings without the over cutting seen in other methods but chainsaws must always be ruin with a good flow of water so can only be used in a working environment where that isn’t an issue.

Floor Sawing

Floor saws are designed to cut horizontal surfaces as quickly and efficiently as possible leaving a clean straight face. Diesel engine saws are used out side with the larger saws having driven wheels and maximum cut depths of up to 650mm.They are used for doing long deep cuts to roads, pavements, bridge decks and run ways cutting concrete and asphalt with diamond blades designed for each.

Internal floor cutting is carried out with non fume emitting 3 phase electric machines cutting up to 600mm deep and suitable for use with slurry control in live buildings.

Uses

  • Floor slabs
  • Bridge decks
  • Roads and pavements
  • Airport runways and aprons
  • Bridge and quay decks
  • Removal of substandard concrete

Track Sawing

Track sawing involves an electrically or hydraulically driven saw head with a circular diamond blade running along a track fixed to the structure with anchor bolts. Blade diameter depends on the machine selected for the job and varies from 600 to 1600mm with cutting depths of up to 700mm. The speed and depth of cut and water feed is remote controlled by the operator maximising safety and minimising dust noise and operator fatigue.

The track can be mounted horizontally, vertically, inverted and any angle in between including going up stairs. The system is designed to be light weight with each component able to be carried and installed by one man. This makes it ideal for working either in confined spaces or in multi story buildings with limited lifting capacity.

Uses

  • Window and door openings
  • Staircases
  • Structural modifications
  • Confined space cutting of slabs
  • Inverted cutting of slabs
